KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) _ A county worker who helps coordinate a jail trustee program is behind bars after his arrest on felony child molestation charges.
Officials say 64-year-old Florentino Cubria of Key West was arrested Friday on two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under 12.
A 15-year-old told Monroe County Sheriff's detectives the molestation occurred when Cubria baby-sat her when she in third grade. She told detectives she came forward because she is “older and understands what he did to her.''
County officials said Cubria was suspended with pay until his initial hearing, which has not been scheduled. He is in the Monroe County Jail with a $1 million bail. Officials said Cubria has no disciplinary history in his personnel file.
