The judge gave the seven-woman, five-man jury their instructions Monday in the trial of former Your Black Muslim Bakery head Yusuf Bey IV. His co-defendant, Antoine Mackey, is also being tried on three counts of murder for allegedly carrying out Bey's orders to kill.

During closing arguments that wrapped up Monday morning, prosecutors said Bey thought he was above the law when he ordered the death of Oakland Post editor Chauncey Bailey to stop an investigative story about the bakery in 2007.

Defense attorneys have spent most of their time attacking the credibility of Devaughndre Broussard, a bakery handyman who testified that he killed Bailey on Bey's orders.
