sheryl_lee_ralph_web.jpgThe Florida Memorial University Gala Committee will present “A Night to Remember,” the school’s fourth annual President’s Scholarship Gala.

The event will also honor the following:

• Sheryl Lee Ralph, actress of stage and screen, and singer, Community Leadership Award

• Estelle Taylor, Class of 1964, Alumnus of the Year Award

• Stephen H. Greenberg, founder/CEO, Stephen H. Greenberg & Associates, Carrie P. Meek Philanthropist Award

• Calvin Hughes, news anchor, WPLG Local 10, Volunteer Award

• AT&T – Florida, Corporate Partner Award

An honorary committee for this year’s gala  is chaired by retired Congresswoman Carrie P. Meek and includes Alberto M. Carvalho, superintendent, Miami-Dade County Public Schools; Sheldon T. Anderson, president and CEO, Northern Trust, Southeast Region; Gepsie M. Metellus, executive director, Sant La Haitian Neighborhood Center; and Dexter A. Bridgeman, founder and CEO, Success South Florida Magazine.

International recording artist Nicole Henry will sing during the evening festival intended to raise money for the Florida Memorial University Student Scholarship Fund.

“The gala enables us to showcase our fine student body to our sponsors,” said interim president Sandra T. Thompson. “This past year has been one of the most productive in the institution’s history.

From expanding international partnerships to breaking ground on our Living and Learning Residence Halls, the gala is an extension of our mission to garner financial resources necessary in equipping our students for the future.”

The event will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood.
