Florida Association of Beauty Professionals president Rick Wallace sent a newsletter to members Wednesday saying he's not sure exactly what Scott's got in mind but warning that deregulation could threaten their livelihoods.

Wallace wrote that anyone with a pair of scissors and blow dryer may be able to hang a shingle and go to work on customers without training or professional oversight.

He added that threat's also a good reason for hairdressers to join his organization.

Immediately after taking office Tuesday Scott ordered a freeze on rule-making and a review of existing regulations to weed out those that inhibit job creation.
