TALLAHASSEE — Florida A&M University (FAMU) alumna Angela Robinson continues to make her mark in the new Tyler Perry series, The Haves and the Have Nots.
Robinson, who stars as Veronica Harrington, is not new to the spotlight.
She has spent almost 18 years on regional theater and national tour stages throughout the country. She played the role of Shug Avery in The Color Purple on Broadway and on tour.
Her other Broadway credits include: Wonderful Town, Play On! and Bells Are Ringing.
Angela and her husband, Scott Whitehurst, founded the WhiteRobin Group, a consulting firm for young artists. On television, she most recently appeared on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
The new series, which broke viewership records on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), follows the complicated dynamic between the rich and powerful Cryer family and the hired help who work in their opulent mansion. From the outside, the Cryers are the enviable face of success and wealth, but behind the veil, the family’s dysfunction threatens to destroy their world of privilege.
The hourlong soap airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST.
