The 1993 Spelman College graduate is the daughter of noted educators Ulysses and Virgina Smith.

Cramer worked at The Palm Beach Post as an intern, reporter, South County Bureau chief, member of the editorial board and award-winning columnist, also heading the Palm Beach County Association of Black Journalists.
