When Archbishop Emeritus John Favalora of Miami marked his 50th anniversary as a priest last December, the archdiocese’s priests presented him with a $50,000 gift.

That became the seed money for the Archbishop Favalora High School Scholarship Fund. It is aimed at helping deserving students attend local Catholic high schools.

Tracey is a graduate of St. Mary Cathedral School, where she excelled in academic studies and all aspects of school life, according to St. Mary’s interim principal, Sister Michelle Fernandez of the Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary.

“Tracey values Catholic education and contributes much to the school community,” Sister Fernandez said.

In announcing the award, Archbishop Thomas Wenski said “Tracey models the good student, who desires Catholic education, who will excel at all that Catholic education offers to form her heart, mind and soul — but a student who, without the benefit of the generosity of others, would not have the resources to dream of attending a Catholic school.”
