The mission of the club is to make a difference in the lives of youths by providing education, mentorship, athletics, arts and cultural programming. The non-profit organization was established in 2010 by a group of business, community and civic leaders to provide programs to the youth of Little Haiti. The organization is affiliated with the Optimist International, an association of more than 3,000 Optimist Clubs around the world dedicated to “Bringing Out the Best in Kids.”

The Journey of Hip Hop
American Senior High School, 18350 N.W. 67th Ave. Hialeah, 10-11:30 a.m. Dj Griot and the 99 Jamz Family, with a surprise guest, host a panel to discuss the history of hip-hop and its effect on our culture today as part of Black History Month, in the official kickoff of Dj Griot Weekend.
Saturday, Feb. 18
Carnival in Little Haiti
Northeast Second Avenue between 59th Street and 59th Terrace in the Little Haiti community. Dj Griot teams with the Little Haiti Optimist Club and the City of Miami for a Carnival-themed street festival that will feature fresh Caribbean food, music, arts and crafts, art activities, kids activities as well as live performances. The all-day event will launch the re-opening of the iconic Caribbean Marketplace in the heart of the Little Haiti community.
Friday, Feb. 17,
4 Years of Greatness
Celebration, Opium at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Fort Lauderdale, 12-4 a.m. Dance the night away with celebrities and influentials in attendance as they celebrate four years of radio greatness with guest of honor Dj Griot.
