WEST PARK — Broward County Commissioner Barbara Sharief joined officials of the city of West Park when they held their first official City Commission meeting in their new City Hall on April 20.
To mark the occasion, Sharief presented a proclamation naming April 20, 2011, "The City of West Park Celebration Day" in Broward County, Florida.
"West Park has achieved so much since it incorporated in 2005. I was there at the ribbon-cutting ceremony last week and I wanted to be there at the first meeting held in their new City Hall," Sharief said.
The West Park City Hall is located at 1965 South State Road 7.
Previously, the city ran its municipal operations from donated space located within Pembroke Park and held commission meetings at the Carver Ranches library.
In 2004, the neighborhood of West Park embarked on the road to incorporation and, following an overwhelming majority of favorable votes, it became Broward County's 31st city in 2005.
West Park, which has a population of 13,721, comprises parts of Miami Gardens, Carver Ranches, Lake Forest and Utopia.
