patrick_noze.jpgWINTER PARK, Fla. (AP) _ A school bus has been repainted in the whimsical style of Haitian public buses for a central Florida exhibit exploring Haitian-American art.

The exhibit “Keeping Haiti in Our Hearts'' opened Friday at the Crealde School of Art in Winter Park. Co-curator Henry Sinn tells the Orlando Sentinel (http://bit.ly/USaA8O ) that he wanted to “shock people's perceptions of what Haitian art is.''

The show includes paintings, photographs, sculpture and mixed-media pieces by Haitian and Haitian-American artists. Co-curator Natalia da Silva says the exhibit shows how the perspective of Haitian artists living in the Caribbean country differs from the perspective of Haitians living abroad.

The exhibit runs through Dec. 29. The bus painted like a colorful Haitian “tap tap'' will eventually travel to Miami's Little Haiti to promote Haitian art.
