The bust was, in fact, a staged operation conducted by members BSO’s elite Strategic Investigations Division and detectives from the Miami-Dade police department, who posed as drug dealers.

According to the arrest affidavit, Deputy Brent Wooddell, 37, was on the scene in Deerfield Beach, where the pills and money were confiscated. He was assigned to transport the contraband to the Deerfield Beach station and log it into evidence.

“During the course of the defendant’s shift, he had an opportunity to inventory and submit the blue bag that contained a total amount of $7,340, but failed to turn in the blue bag and only submitted a total of $6,000,” the arrest affidavit states.

Ironically, Wooddell is a member of BSO’s Selective Enforcement Team (SET) in Deerfield Beach. SET teams target intense crimes by conducting undercover operations, reverse drug stings, and other operations.
