FORT LAUDERDALE – Albert Tucker presented a proclamation on behalf of the office of Broward County Vice Mayor Barbara Sharief, officially declaring June 29, 2013 as “Belize Travel & Trade Show Day” in the county. The show at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center was a first of its kind for Belize in Florida, seeking to introduce residents to all that Belize has to offer.
Officials of the Belize Tourist Board, along with the Belize Trade & Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE), the Belize-American Chamber and a host of hoteliers and businesses from Belize made their way to South Florida to attend.
There was a showing of national pride and culture on display at the convention center, where an estimated 700 people flowed throughout the day to learn more about doing business in Belize, to experience Belizean food and rum, and gather information about vacationing and honeymooning in Belize.
Rounding out the day was a fashion show designed to showcase fashions for honeymooning, and having a destination wedding in Belize.
Attendees enjoyed prizes from show participants, including a dream vacation for two at the beautiful and newly renovated San Ignacio Resort, which recently received 2012 Hotel of the Year Award from the Belize Tourist Board.
“All in all, I am very pleased with the turnout of people and show participants for our first of many trade shows,” said Michael Young, president of the Belize-American Chamber of Commerce.
“Our dynamic team hit the ball out of the park, by putting together a powerful presentation designed to keep Belize top of mind for the consumer. Plans for 2014 are already in discussion, details will be forthcoming in the coming months.”
