MARGATE — Broward Coun-ty’s Animal Care and Adoption department will host a rabies clinic from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at the Margate Catharine Young Library, 5810 Park Drive, Margate.

Pet owners will be able to get their dog or cat vaccinated against rabies and will also receive a Broward County pet license tag.

Cost for a one-year rabies vaccination and license is $15 per pet.

“Rabies is one of the deadliest of diseases but also is easy to prevent,” said Dr. Tim Johnston, veterinarian of Animal Care and Adoption. “A simple yearly vaccination is all it takes to ensure the health and safety of our pets and our residents.”

Information about other Animal Care programs and services will be available to residents at the event.

Pet owners wishing to use the service must prove they are Broward County residents by producing a valid Florida driver's license or a current utility bill.

No appointment is necessary and customers are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. All dogs must be on leashes and all cats must be in carriers.

Five more rabies clinics are scheduled for this year. For a complete listing of dates and locations, visit www.broward.org/animal and click RABIES CLINICS.
