jim_dechant.jpgFORT LAUDERDALE— Right Management Florida/Caribbean, a talent and career management unit in the ManpowerGroup, has received a grant from the Community Foundation of Broward to train Baby Boomers to become volunteers, employees or consultants who will make an impact in their communities.

The Fort Lauderdale-based company said it is using the grant to  implement its Booming VOICES (Volunteer Options Impacting Community Engagement and Service) program. They will provide free half-day training sessions for pre-retirement age and retirement age residents bi-monthly.

Right Management said it developed the Booming VOICES curriculum to assess potential trainees’ readiness for civic engagement, giving them a formula to prepare for and create fulfilling new roles that will improve their communities.

Under the grant, which is provided under the Community Foundation of Broward’s Re-engage for Good campaign, Right Management will also help connect trainees who are approaching retirement with volunteer or career opportunities that match their interests and skills.

“Broward has vast talent resources in its Boomers who want to determine a new ‘game plan’ for their lives,” said Tom Shea, CEO of Right Management Florida/Caribbean. “Through a process of discovery, we’ll help them uncover that plan and prepare to take action, by identifying their own priorities, values and needs.

“Knowing that Broward has pressing community issues and lower levels of civic engagement than most areas in the U.S., we’re working to help narrow the gap.”

Right Management said it will hold  Booming VOICES sessions throughout the coming months and will work to increase awareness of the Re-engage for Good initiative and the Booming VOICES program to advance the Community Foundation’s objectives.

“We are committed to finding nonprofit and for-profit partners best placed to connect retirees and those soon to retire with tangible opportunities for civic entrepreneurship,” said Linda Carter, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of Broward.

“Right Management will help many Baby Boomers find the social need that speaks to their skills and passion to help them Re-engage for Good,” she said.
