Several days earlier, Wilson was joined at North Miami City Hall by more than 20 elected officials from across South Florida to urge the U.S. and the international community to remember their commitment to rebuild Haiti, on the third anniversary of the earthquake that killed more than 300,000 people, injured another 300,000 and left one million people homeless.

The congresswoman represents the largest Haitian population in the country.
