MIAMI – Baseball does not lend itself to being a “quick pick-up” game. So, while gathering 18 of your closest friends together on a Saturday afternoon for a friendly game of the American pastime may not be an easy task, you can typically count on seven of your pals who are always ready to “Play Ball!”
The National 3 Man Ball League (N3MBL) was designed to provide and promote the joy of baseball on a smaller scale to both youths and adults with the 3 Man Ball – Hit It Out Tournaments.
The first national tour begins 8 a.m. Saturday, April 6, and continues on Sunday, April 7, at Amelia Earhart Park, 401 E. 65th St., Hialeah.
The game will last 45 minutes or five innings, whichever comes first.
The goal, according to the promoters, is for the N3MBL “to create an atmosphere that promotes friendly-family competition and the opportunity to dust off your cleats, restring your gloves and swing for the fences while reliving your heyday.”
The tournament plans to draw more than 50 teams from South Florida and surrounding areas. Teams may comprise up to four players each and will compete for a first-place cash prize of $1,000.
The organizers said in a statement the N3MBL plans to hold tournaments in every state with thousands of N3MBL players gathering each year for the N3MBL/3 Man Ball – Hit It Out Regional Qualifiers and N3MBL/3 Man Ball – Hit It Out World Championship Weekend.
