RANGELEY, Maine (AP) _ Officials with the popular Saddleback ski area say the resort would extend its self-imposed closing deadline if it does not secure financing for a new chairlift.

Owner Mark Berry told the Associated Press on July 20 the resort would have to close if it could not replace a 51-year-old double chair lift with a four-person lift. He said the resort needs $3 million and the lift had to be ordered within two weeks of that date to have it operational for the upcoming season.

Saddleback is located in Rangeley, about 120 miles north of Portland.

Saddleback officials told the Sun Journal (http://bit.ly/1Dg6v8K ) Friday they would extend that closing deadline by a few days if needed.
