MIAMI (AP) _ Second baseman Dee Gordon has been ruled out of the All-Star Game because of a dislocated left thumb, but says he thinks he avoided serious injury.

Gordon left Miami’s 14-3 win against Cincinnati in the seventh inning after he was hurt beating out an infield hit with a headfirst slide.

The Marlins say X-rays were negative, and there was no apparent ligament damage. Gordon had movement in the thumb despite the injury and said Saturday he hopes to avoid the disabled list.

Gordon was voted an All-Star starter for the first time. The Marlins were already without All-Star right fielder Giancarlo Stanton, sidelined since June 26 because of a broken left hand.
