Hoping to follow in the footsteps of Jazz in the Gardens, its hugely successful annual music festival, the City of Miami Gardens is hosting the Miami Gardens Wine and Food Experience on Nov. 14 at its state of the art municipal complex. The predominantly African American north Miami-Dade municipality is joining the increasingly popular wine and food landscape that includes similar festivals in South Beach, Key West and other destinations around the country.

The night is billed as “an intimate, grown and sexy event for foodies, glitterati and socialites of South Florida to savor,” and is the brainchild of Miami Gardens Councilwoman Lisa C. Davis.

“I am truly excited about my event!  Miami Gardens is a wonderful premiere city with many professionals hungry to “experience” a fantastic evening of entertainment, great wine and scrumptious food,” said Davis, who has been on the council since 2010.

Actor Omari Hardwick (Power, Being Mary Jane) will be on hand as the special guest and celebrity judge for the event that will include a chef cook-off.

Organizers anticipate a crowd of nearly 1000 at the inaugural event. In addition to featuring South Florida chefs Myriam Charles, Troy Tingling, Ali Francois and Alain Lemaire during the thrilling master chef cook-off, the night will also include complimentary tastings from South Florida’s hottest chefs, samplings of renowned international/national wine & spirits, mixologist showoff and live entertainment by Mariea Antoinette, Jai Rose, James Dawkins, Jared Burnett, Melton Mustafa and more.
