A street party also known as the Overtown Music Festival is back and features something for everyone. The July 23 full day event is scheduled to begin 11 a.m. and runs until 7 p.m. Sponsored by the Headliner Market Group (HMG), City of Miami Commission Chairman Keon Hardemon, and the Southeast Overtown / Park West Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), the seventh annual street festival will take place in the heart Overtown’s Business District on NW 3rd Avenue between 9th and 11th streets.

The entertainment lineup features an eclectic mix of musical styles, including R&B neo-soul singer Eric Benet, British singer and songwriter Estelle, R&B songstress Kelly Price, R&B artists Carl Thomas, Jeremih, Jon B and Amerie. Tito Puente, Jr, son of the legendary Mambo King Tito Puente, will bring Latin Jazz and Afro-Caribbean rhythms. Local artists including Larry Dogg, Samara, Sensere, Ronnie VOP, J-Shin, Jody Hill & Deep Fried Funk Band will also perform at this year’s festival.

In addition to the music, local artist Danielle Myers will create a live art mural installation. Six local artists will showcase their creativity by designing live art pieces on site in the Art Den. Original works of art will also be available for purchase. Festival goers will have a chance to visit local Overtown businesses and vendors who will be on hand showcasing artwork, ethnic cuisine, food trucks, unique crafts, jewelry, clothing, and more.

The festival will also include T.E.E.S. Youth

Zone, presented by the Green Family Foundation. Activities within the Youth Zone will include DIY arts where children can create their own t-shirts, hats, jewelry and more, fitness activities/competitions, bounce houses, a multi-lingual story time tent, live cooking demonstrations, and more.

The Youth Zone stage will feature performances by Young Lyric from Jermaine Dupri’s Lifetime television show, The Rap Game. DJ Chipman will also be on hand performing Peanut Butter Jelly. Motivational Edge will participate with spoken word, percussion performances, and more.
