FAIRMONT, W.Va. (AP) – Services were scheduled over the weekend at the Calvary Temple Assembly of God in Fairmont for former West Virginia running back Kerry Marbury.

Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home in Fairmont says Marbury died June 23 at his home. He was 67. No cause of death was given.

Marbury was a state track champion in the 100- and 220-yard dashes and was considered one of the top high school football players in state history out of Monongah High School.

He attended West Virginia and set the Mountaineers’ single-game rushing record of 291 yards against Temple in 1971, a mark that stood for 33 years.
