BOISE, Idaho (AP) _ The Internet Truckstop Group is raising its minimum wage to $15 per hour.
The Idaho Statesman reports (http://bit.ly/1JMJJom ) that the move by the parent company of Truckstop.com and other companies comes as pressure grows for a higher minimum wage in the U.S.
Los Angeles and Seattle are increasing their lowest wages to $15 over the next few years. Idaho has the federal minimum of $7.25 an hour. President Barack Obama has proposed raising that to $10.10.
Nine of 10 Treasure Valley business leaders surveyed this spring by the Idaho Statesman favored raising the minimum wage.
Scott Moscrip, CEO of Internet Truckstop, says about 110 of the company’s 250 workers will earn more with the increase.
Moscrip says they want to reward the people who made the company successful.
