BESSIE STRINGFIELD ALL FEMALE RIDERS: Bessie Stringfield was the first woman to ride across America solo on her motorcycle and often led the parade for the Orange Blossom classic which is coming back to Miami during the Labor Day weekend. An estimated 200-250 female motorcyclists will start in Daytona Beach, and meet up at WAWA in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday, Aug. 19. On Friday morning at 10 a.m. the bikers will have a dedication ceremony in front Ms. Stringfield’s last known Miami residence at 2400 NW 152nd Ter. The three-day event, will include a small community dedication with proclamations presented by the cities of Opa-Locka and Miami Gardens and state representatives, an escorted police ride through the urban communities of Miami, a lunch roundup at Gibson Park in Overtown, and a tour at the Historic Black Police Precinct Museum, before heading to Key West.
