FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – South Florida commuters traveling on Sistrunk Boulevard in Ft. Lauderdale should be aware construction has begun in the area. The NW 27 Avenue Safe Street Improvements Project – Phase I got underway on Tuesday, Sept. 6. The project will improve Sistrunk Boulevard from NW 27 Avenue to east of NW 24 Avenue in the Broward Municipal Services District. Barring any unforeseen conditions or weather delays the work is expected to be completed November 2016. The work is being performed by Horsepower Electric, Inc. and is being managed by The Highway Construction and Engineering Division. The work will include

• Pavement milling and resurfacing
• Landscape medians
• Decorative preformed thermoplastic material at crosswalks
• Mid-block crossing and pedestrian lighting
