PALM BEACH GARDENS – Once again spotlighting a good cause, the 11th annual “It’s a Fashion Affair” drew another diverse crowd in support of the Sickle Cell Foundation of Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast on Saturday at the PGA Marriott. Ticket proceeds benefit the foundation’s efforts to improve awareness of the blood disorder that disproportionately impacts African Americans, who face a lifelong battle against the trait, or the full-blown disease. In South Florida they include the youthful “Sickle Warriors” who were recognized with a special tribute: Jayla Carter, who went into crisis just prior to the event, and above from left, local students Terrence D. Saint Juste, Ticarey Jones and Michael Pierre Louis. The latter three joined the stunning models and designs by Neesha’s Finest Fashions CEO Aneesha Hanif, and Harrell’s Mens Wear personal stylist David Harrell, which graced the runway along with emcee Kitty Lundun, Sickle Cell Foundation CEO Shalonda Warren and others. Also among the day’s highlights were saxophonist Melton Mustafa at the VIP Reception, and songstress Adria Shahid with her B Stew Trio.
