MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – More than 50 guests enjoyed musical renditions on the viola from Labella Faraba, a freshman at Florida Memorial University (FMU) and recipient of a United Negro College Fund (UNCF) scholarship, when the North Broward Chapter of the Links hosted a recent fundraiser in Parkland in support of the only historically black college/university (HBCU) in South Florida, FMU. Faraba was accompanied by Miss FMU UNCF, Christin Dawkins. FMU President Dr. Jaffus Hardrick and his wife Janet attended, along with FMU Trustee Horace Hord. Dr. Hardrick offered encouraging words to the audience, who mostly were HBCU alum. One of the missions of the North Broward Links is to select a cause, and for the past two years, the chapter has been supportive of the students of FMU.
