MIAMI — It’s a New Year and your celebration shouldn’t have to be cut short. Dance the night away, literally, as the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) is keeping Metrorail and Metromover open all night long on Saturday, December 31.
Typically, Metrorail and Metromover run until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. But, for New Year’s Eve, Miami- Dade Transit will allow the rail and mover to remain open a full 24 hours. Operating hours for Saturday, December 31 will be 5 a.m. until midnight on Sunday, January 1, 2017.
Frequency from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. will continue every 15 minutes on the Green Line between Earlington Heights and Dadeland South; and every 30 minutes from Palmetto to Earlington Heights and on the Orange Line from Earlington Heights to Miami International Airport.
In order to celebrate the New Year and encourage everyone to give transit a try, the Department is giving away complimentary one-day mobile passes (a $5.65 value) to the first 2,017 riders who download the EASY Pay Miami mobile app and create a new, free account between January 1, 2017 and January 31, 2017.
Visit http://www.miamidade.gov/transit/easy-pay.asp to download the app for your smartphone (available for free via the App Store and Google Play). It may take up to 24 hours for the one-day pass to appear in the Ticket Manager on the app of the winner for use. Promotional tickets will expire September 30, 2017.
Celebrate the end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017 until you’re ready to go home; and when you are, Miami-Dade Transit will be there. Visit the special events page for more information.
