MIAMI— An innovative new initiative will allow a few lucky library card holders to enjoy the 2018 Miami Open tennis tournament at the Crandon Park Tennis Center in Key Biscayne. Your Miami-Dade Public Library System card can be your free ticket to the annual sporting event that runs from Tuesday, March 20 through Tuesday, March 27.

To enter, simply sign up for an MDPLS library card or, if you’re already a library card holder, renew or update your existing account and you’ll automatically be entered to win one of 15 sets of four tickets and a VIP parking pass for the daytime matches on Friday, March 30.

“As a believer in the importance of libraries, I am happy to partner with the Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library and the Miami-Dade Public Library System in promoting literacy and library services to our residents,” said Commissioner Martinez, who donated the tickets to the Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library.

An additional set of two tickets and a VIP parking pass will also be given away. Winners will be randomly selected through a drawing on Wednesday, March 28 and notified by email or phone. To get a library card, sign up online at ecard.mdpls.org or visit any of the 50 MDPLS locations. Kids under the age of 16 need a parent or guardian’s authorization to obtain a library card.
