GEORGETOWN, S.C. (AP) – A Georgetown County jailer is facing charges he stole money from an inmate’s account.

Multiple media organizations reported 35-year-old James Drye III is charged with breach of trust and misconduct in office. A message left at his home Sunday seeking comment was not returned.

The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office says he was arrested Friday, days after jail administrators discovered funds were missing from the unnamed inmate’s account.

The investigation found that Drye cashed a $550 check he made out to himself in September 2014.

Drye has worked at the Georgetown County Detention Center since 2003.
