MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Nicole Yarling, assistant professor of Florida Memorial University’s Popular Music Program, was among the dozens of winners when The Knight Foundation awarded millions of dollars to arts organizations.

“The Knight Foundation is thrilled to say, next year we will infuse $37 million dollars into arts organizations in Miami,” Knight Foundation CEO Alberto Ibarguen said as the foundation celebrated with hundreds of local artists in announcing the awards.

Yarling is director of the Jazz Education Community Coalition (JECC) which was awarded $10,000 by The Knight Foundation.

“I am constantly looking for opportunities to connect FMU to the South Florida community,” said Yarling.

“Several of our FMU students have attended the workshop and performed as members of the JECC. “Hopefully this will be the beginning of a great new relationship with the Knight Foundation.”
