Miami, Fla. – On Tuesday, U.S. District Court Judge Robert Hinkle ruled a Florida law banning gender-affirming health care for children is unconstitutional.

By refusing to allow children to access treatments, the Federal judge ruled Tuesday that Gov. DeSantis and Republicans who voted for the measure acted in a way that was similar to racism and misogyny.

State Senator Shevrin Jones (FL SD34) released the following statement: “This ruling is a major victory for Floridians. Today lifts a huge burden for the LGBTQ+ community, our families, friends, and neighbors who know that discrimination of any kind is not acceptable – despite Gov. DeSantis and his extremist allies’ attempts to strip people of their fundamental rights and freedoms.”
