West Palm Beach, Fla. – Members of the T. Leroy Jefferson Medical Society, a society of Black doctors in Palm Beach County, are summoning Gov. Ron DeSantis to change his vaccination practices and guidelines. The members have sent a letter to the governor asking that he make changes due to the disparities affecting people of color. The letter was sent Feb. 15.

Dr. Kitonga Kiminyo, board member and COVID-19 Task Force Lead for the medical society, said Palm Beach County is in a precarious position and it must be addressed. “The pandemic vulnerability index ranks Palm Beach County in the top third of counties in the country,” he said.

He said the group is particularly concerned about Black and brown people who could become infected with the illness. The group is committed to getting the best outcomes for the people. The letter to the governor addressed three major concerns:
