LEAD, S.D. (AP) – A church in Lead has installed a mailbox where people can drop in requests for prayers.

The Black Hills Pioneer reports that the decorated mailbox is outside the Christian Ministry Center. Pencils and paper can be found next to the mailbox, which is locked for privacy.

Trinity United Methodist Pastor Mark Phillips says anyone in the community, not just members of the congregation, can drop in a request.

Phillips says the church hopes that people who feel the need for prayers won’t feel alone “in trying to face a problem, issue or struggle.”

Phillips says anyone dropping off a request should be sure to put the mailbox’s flag up to alert the church to a prayer request deposit.
