WEST PALM BEACH,Fla.— The Zoological Society of the Palm Beaches is home to over 550 animals and exists to inspire people to act on behalf of wildlife and the natural world. Known for hosting fun, family friendly events for residents and visitors, the zoo is proud to present the following special events and promotions for May 2017:

Roar & Pour: On Saturday May 13,the zoo presents its first Roar & Pour of 2017 from 4:30-9 p.m. featuring the amazing Heart tribute band LifeLine. The whole zoo is open to explore along with up close animal encounters. The Summer Grill opens at 5 p.m. with Seattle inspired menu items in honor of Heart’s hometown. The Tiki Bar also opens withbeer,wine and a Due South Brewing tap-takeover. LifeLine takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. with a 90-minute set of Heart’s biggest hits. Stacey Konwiser Memorial Save The Tiger 5K: It’s estimated that there are fewer than 250 Malayan tigers left in the wild.On Saturday May 20 at 7:30 a.m., registration will be open to run or walk to help preserve those that remain.Proceeds from the run/walk help support the zoo’s partnership with the Wildlife Conservation Society at Endau Rompin National Park in Malaysia to protect tigers and their habitat. The course for the run takes participants directly past the Tiger River habitat. Snooze-a-pa-ZOO-za Family Overnight:If you want to spend the night at the zoo Memorial Day weekend, this event is for you.On Friday May 26,from 7 p.m.until 8:30 a.m. the next morning, enjoy an evening of themed activities including up close animal encounters,detective games, crafts and a nighttime tour.Pizza and continental breakfast are included.Activities are geared for children ages six and up and a minimum of one adult is required per family. Teddy Bear Affair presented by MedExpress Urgent Care: Thanks to sponsor MedExpress Urgent Care, the Teddy Bear Affair is bigger and better than ever. On Saturday May 27,from 10 a.m.to 2p.m. children can bring their ‘beary’ favorite stuffed toys to the “doctor” at the Zoo for the ‘beary’ best care and TLC possible from Zoo veterinary staff and staff from MedExpressUrgent Care.Be sure to visit the “Bear Den” for the regularly scheduled Bear Keeper Talk at 1:30 p.m. and enjoy bearthemedcoloringpages.All activities are included in regular Zoo admission. Food Truck Safari: Explore the Zoo in search of your favorite wildlife and Palm Beach County’s best gourmet food trucks on Saturday May 27 from 4:30-9p.m.Trucks are spread throughout the Zoo with two live music locations and two cash bars. Zoo Camp: Register now for one week or the entire summer. Each week offers a unique wildlife theme featuring zoo-keeping activities, behind-the-scenes tours, scavenger hunts, enriching conservation education activities and interactive fountain time. Girl Scout Badge Programs Are Back: Is your Girl Scout looking to fulfill badge requirements?Then come have a wild time at the zoo,and earn abadge too.In partnership with the Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida,programs are available for Daisies, Brownies, Juniors and Cadettes. Badge Workshops and Journeys may include animal encounters,behind the scenes tours, guided ground tours,crafts,themed activities and admission to the zoo. Overnight programs include up-close animal encounters, a nocturnal tour, crafts, themed activities, pizza and a continental breakfast. All programs meet badge requirements.
