MIRAMAR – Variety Entertainment is excited to announce the return of the 2016 Miami Funk Fest, presented by Pepsi, on Friday, December 9 at 6 p.m., and Saturday, December 10 at 4 p.m. at the Miramar Regional Park, 16801 Miramar Pkwy in Miramar. With over 10,000 attendees from the inagural Fest last year, Funk Fest is one of the country’s largest traveling music festivals, entertaining close to 110,000 people annually with talent line- ups that feature some of the top platinum selling artists in R&B, Hip Hop and Soul music from the past two decades. This year’s line up is sure to please every music lover!
Each day, Funk Fest will feature an explosive mix of 90’s legends and global superstars who include:
Friday, December 9th Jodeci, Dru Hill, SWV, H-Town and Trick Daddy
Saturday, December 10th Bell, Biv, Devoe; Guy Featuring Teddy Riley, TLC,Mystikal and Trick Daddy.
This year, the Fest anticipates large crowds with faster admissions, savory South Florida foods, over twenty popular vendors and nights of “FUNK fun.” Attendees can enjoy luxury shuttle services that are provided to guarantee a stress-free and easy night.
When asked what attendees could expect at the concert, Nokio from Dru Hill promised not to disappoint.
“You can expect the classic Dru Hill that all of our fans love, but we’ve put together a set that’s fresh enough for it to stay on your minds in 2016,” Nokio said. “Our fans have held us down and made sure that our music has never really gone out of style, so we make sure to put on a timeless show for them. We’ve added a few things for the fans in celebration of our 20th Year Anniversary, and you can anticipate that we’ll take you on a journey from 1996 to the present. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
The City of Miramar will provide shuttle services from the nearby parking lot located at Everglades High School (17100 SW 48 Court (Bass Creek Rd.) in Miramar. Shuttles will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday, and will run one full hour after the show. Parking in the shuttle lot is $10 per car and includes round-trip transportation to the concert. VIP Parking options are available.
Leo Bennett, CEO of Variety Entertainment, enjoys creating memorable nights and enjoy- able times for all Funk Fest patrons. As the 2016 Funk Fest tour concludes in Miami, Bennett has made some changes that he feels SoFlo attendees will appreciate.
“In an effort to make Funk Fest a great experience for the fans, we have made some changes to ensure a seamless admission process and we are assured by the City of Mira- mar that parking will be more accessible and affordable for our valued guests,” Bennett said.
In addition to great music, Funk Fest has paired with the City of Miramar for the presentation of multiple community-based honors and awards that include the Funk Fest Community Champions Program, presented by Sam’s Club, and the presentation of $5,000 in scholarships in partnership with Pepsi and Lifting as We Climb.
