KEARNEY, Neb. (AP) _ After six weeks of treating preregistered clients, a free health care clinic in Kearney is set to open to the public on Thursday.
The Kearney Hub reports (http://bit.ly/1K0XdhB ) that the HelpCare Clinic provides free medical care for patients who meet certain qualifications. Those include residing or working in Buffalo or Kearney counties, not having private medical insurance, Medicaid or Medicare, and having an income at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level.
A grand opening and ribbon-cutting will be at the clinic on June 16.
Clinic director Linda Muhlbach says the soft opening allowed clinic staff to ensure the processes would work correctly.
The clinic has three employees: a registered nurse, a part-time bookkeeper and Muhlbach. Nine medical providers have volunteered to work at the clinic.
