POMPANO BEACH- Floyd T. Johnson, director of Pompano Beach’s controversial Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), has been hired as city manager in Port Arthur, Texas.
Johnson has previously served as Broward County’s administrator, and city manager in Richmond, California and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Officials in Port Arthur said Johnson will start his new job in July. Pompano's CRA is at the center of controversy over its redevelopments plans in the predominently black northwest areas of the city.
Residents are planning a protest rally in fron of city hall over the issue.
