MIRAMAR — One of the most recognizable and incomparable voices in gospel music, legendary gospel singer CeCe Winans, will perform in A Gospel Extravaganza on Saturday, April 14, at 8 p.m. at the Miramar Cultural Center/ArtsPark, 2400 Civic Center Pl. on Red Road, north of the Miramar Parkway, in Miramar. Having sold millions of albums during her 25-year music career, the charismatic singer has garnered numerous awards including eight Grammy Awards, 21 Dove Awards and a host of number one gospel and Top 10 R&B hits.
Winans also has authored three books: On A Positive Note, a collection of her memoirs; Throne Room: Ushered Into the Presence of God, a devotional co-authored with Claire Cloninger; and Always Sisters: Becoming the Princess You Were Created to Be, co-written with Claudia Mair Burney.
CeCe was a close friend of the late songstress and actress Whitney Houston and godmother to her daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown. She performed Don't Cry for Me and Jesus Loves Me at Houston's funeral, on February 18 at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, N.J.
The concert will be hosted by Maestro Powell of 99 JAMZ.
