Derrick McCray’s barbecue business has firmed up its links with the National Football League and its signature Super Bowl game.
The 35-year-old McCray’s II Backyard BBQ at 1521 45th St., Mangonia Park, near West Palm Beach and the six-month-old McCray’s II Backyard BBQ, 2700 Broadway, Riviera Beach, are benefiting from the NFL’s Emerging Business program.
The company participated as a vendor at Super Bowl XLVI which was played in Indianapolis, Indiana, last Sunday evening between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants.
McCray’s Backyard BBQ also participated at Super Bowl XLI, which was played on Feb. 4, 2007 at then Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens.
The company was given high marks for its tailgate operation by local media and capitalized on the exposure. Backyard BBQ went on to win the invitation to take its baby back ribs, wings, and Georgia sausages to the big game last weekend.
