Hollywood — The Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency has debuted a new program that makes parking a whole lot easier and less expensive in downtown Hollywood.
Between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., free on-street parking is offered for a three-hour time limit. Drivers can enjoy free on-street parking between 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.
Free parking is available within the Downtown District on Polk Street, Tyler Street, Hollywood Boulevard, Harrison Street and Van Buren Street between 17th and 22nd Avenues, as well as other areas. Parking restrictions apply on Young Circle. In addition, there are numerous free municipal surface lots and two municipal parking garages offering parking at $1 per hour.
“We listened to residents, business owners, their patrons and our elected officials. The comments are overwhelming in favor of the new free and convenient parking plan,” said Jorge Camejo, executive director of the Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency. “We are thrilled to be able to implement this new program in time for the holiday season and look at our improved parking as a catalyst for future economic growth.”
The Downtown District, created in 1979, is approximately 580 acres and extends from 22nd Avenue on the west to generally 17th Avenue on the east, Johnson Street on the north and Washington Street on the south. The Community Redevelopment Agency continues its ongoing implementation of the redevelopment plan.
