Fort Lauderdale – In a move to encourage civic engagement, the Broward County Board of Commissioners has announced that voters can take advantage of free bus and paratransit fares during the Early Voting Period and on Election Day.

The initiative allows residents to travel on Broward County Transit (BCT) without any fare on Nov. 2, Nov. 3, and on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5, facilitating easier access to polling places.

Broward County polling locations are open now through Nov. 3, and again on Election Day, operating from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. For information on getting to a polling location, visit Broward.org/BCT or call customer service at 954-3578400.

Similarly, in Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties the Supervisors of Elections offices have established procedures in effect.

As in Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties, and throughout Florida, all voters who were registered by Oct. 7 are eligible to participate in the Nov. 5 General Election.

Here are important reminders to ensure you’re prepared:

Identification Requirements:

Florida law requires voters to present a photo ID with a signature at the polling place. A list of acceptable forms of ID is available on the county and state elections websites listed below. Please note that your ID must match your current signature on file.

Vote-by-Mail ballots may be dropped off at any county Supervisor of Elections office. For a complete list of drop-off locations, visit your county elections website below.

Voters can no longer use their VoteBy-Mail ballots as a guide at the polls if they decide to vote in person. If a voter brings their Vote-By-Mail ballot to the polls on Election Day to use as a guide, they must surrender it to a poll worker to be marked “canceled.” However, voters may take a screenshot of their Vote-By-Mail ballot to use the image in the voting booth as a reference. Alternatively, voters may download a universal sample ballot or a personalized sample ballot, print it, and use that ballot as a guide while voting in person.

Voter Information Card: Your voter information card is not required to vote but can help you verify your district and polling location. Ensure you know your polling place before Election Day by checking your voter information card or using the online precinct finder. If you’ve recently moved, you must vote in your new home precinct. Provisional Ballots: If you arrive without proper ID, Florida law requires you to vote using a Provisional Ballot. Provisional ballots are counted when the voter’s eligibility is confirmed.

Election Results: Results for the 2024 General Election – including Vote-by-Mail ballots, Early Voting, and Election Day votes – will begin streaming on elections supervisors’ websites at 7 p.m. on Election Night. The results will be updated frequently until all precincts have reported.
