MIAMI – The Miami Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. celebrated more than 77 years of service to the Miami-Dade community, while recognizing community members in Miami and Broward, including Kappa Alpha Psi members of more than 50 years, as the organization hosted an evening of fanfare and glitter at its Black & White Ball on Saturday, June 29, at the Doubletree by Hilton, Miami Airport. Spicer, president; and Gale Nelson, president/CEO Big Brothers Big Sisters Miami (Key West). Congresswoman Frederica Wilson received the Pioneer award; Miami natives Dewey Dwight, III and Samuel L. Johnson II were presented Miami achievement awards; while North Miami Mayor Alix Desulme recognized the chapter with a proclamation for members’ work with the Miami Dade Public Schools, Big Brother Big Sisters Miami, Special Olympics, and the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Program. Financial contributions through fraternity foundation provides scholarships to the Kappa League, a program designed to empower male students in the Miami Dade community with leadership skills, academic enhancement, sports, and career readiness.
