Dr. Michael Keith Butler, chief medical officer of the Jackson Health System, was recently honored as one of the most influential African American doctors in the Metropolitan Miami area.
Butler received the recognition at the third annual Black Health Awards Banquet held at the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood.
Jackson announced the award last week.
Butler was one of 25 top minority physicians who won the distinction. He was selected by a group of his peers and the staff of Black Health magazine.
The award is given to doctors who have “given their best” to improve the health of African Americans in their communities.
Black Health magazine, established in 2006 and based in Atlanta, is a national publication that promotes health awareness in the African-American community. It seeks to empower and address health and wellness issues of black women, as well as issues at-large.
