MIRAMAR, Fla. – Tammy Reed has been appointed to the City of Miramar’s newly created Ruth Bader Ginsburg (RBG) Commission on the Status of Women.

Established last year by city ordinance, the RBG Commission is dedicated to identifying and resolving economic, health and wellness, social, and other issues concerning women’s lives through education and advocacy.

Appointed to a two-year term by city Mayor Wayne Messam, Reed will join four other Miramar Commission appointees, who serve voluntarily, to make recommendations to city leaders based on studies, reports, and practices of the city.

“I am excited to announce my appointment of Mrs. Tammy Reed to the RBG Commission on the Status of Women,” said Messam.

“Her professional and civic engagement experience will add so much value to the collective group of women who will advise the City Commission on how our city can ensure that the quality of life for women is second to none.”

“Women face very real and unique social, health, economic, and workforce challenges,” said Reed. “Being a part of this body of work and the advocacy addressing these issues in the city I live and love is an honor.”

Reed, a 20-year resident of Miramar, is an administrator with Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Office of Economic Opportunity.
