Miami ShoresS, Fla. – Joann Redmond’s CosMedics, was one of 20 businesses to receive a micro-grant sponsored by the St. Thomas University Center for Pandemic, Disaster & Quarantine Research (STU/PDQ).

The STU/PDQ was formed as part of a Miami-Dade County funded initiative designed to track the impact of emerging, expanding and extended pandemics and disasters on all socioeconomic aspects of society. The micro-grants awarded total approximately $100,000. Almost 50 small businesses applied for the grant.

On Monday, STU President David A. Armstrong and Oliver Gilbert III, STU/PDQ executive director, presented

the grant check to CosMedics founder Redmond. Her Miami Shores company has been hard hit by revenue losses and unanticipated expenses due to COVID19.
