TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) _ Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson will report raising $1.85 million for his re-election the three months that ended June 30.
The amount the campaign announced Tuesday is nearly double the highest total raised last quarter by any of the Republicans hoping to challenge him.
In all, Nelson has more than $6 million in the bank for next year's election. The campaign said it received donations from 3,000 individual contributors during the quarter.
Among Republicans, former Sen. George LeMieux raised $950,000 last quarter, Senate President Mike Haridopolos raised $900,000 and former Rep. Adam Hasner raised $560,000.
Retired Army Col. Mike McCalister hasn't announced his fundraising totals and former Ruth's Chris CEO Craig Miller just entered the race this month.
