WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – After years of collecting sneakers and a desire to do mission work, rising entrepreneur and Tiki Clothing Company owner Javaris Neely thought it would be cool to create a nice quality sneaker that’s a price-conscious alternative for people from less fortunate backgrounds as well as others who are looking to budget money. So he created the WaveRunner sneaker.
The initial concept behind the sneaker stemmed from a luxury beach lifestyle reflecting his Tiki Clothing Company. Neely wanted to create a versatile sneaker that could be used daily – something clean and simple, lightweight construction and very comfortable with a unique look.
To raise capital for manufacturing and production costs, Neely sold his personal pair of Kanye West YEEZY 350 boost “Turtle Doves” for the first WaveRunner I’s.
In February 2016, Neely’s dream came true when he released the WaveRunner I’s for a retail price of $50. Design and manufacturing took about 5-6 months to complete, but with no huge branding, he managed to sell around 150 pairs. It all was a dream and a sketch at first, but Neely turned it to a reality.
“All you need is drive. With drive comes the hustle, dedication and commitment. That desire and mindset alone will make you more creative and more resourceful, and that will help you get further in life faster,” Neely said.
Most recently, Neely has released the WaveRunner II for a retail price of $65. At 6.8oz, the WaveRunner II sneaker is one of the lightest sneakers on the market.
While designing this new model, Neely says he based it on four principles: Cause, Function, Fashion and Fun.
“I believe the sneakers will bring our customers inspiration to everyday life. If you dream it, you can achieve it,” he said.
The new model has a fully redesigned upper featuring a lightweight sock-like construction, breathable air mesh vents, neoprene & suede materials that adjust to one’s foot for a responsive and super comfortable feel, paired with a phylon foam outsole with added flexibility to make you feel like you’re walking on clouds.
Every WaveRunner II purchase will help U.S. families living in poverty, Tiki Clothing Company will donate a percentage of footwear and apparel sales to local charities that fight poverty. Along with the donation, they will donate sneakers, clothes and more to the families.
