Registration is now open for “The Politics of Jesus: What Does the Bible Say?” the Spring Colloquium of the Johnnie Colemon Theological Seminary, taking place May 18-20 at the Universal Truth Center in Miami Gardens.

“We have an exciting program every year,” said Dr. Anna Price, Provost. “Given the political climate of the country this year and what seems to be an increased involvement of religious leaders in politics, we are exploring the practical application of the teaching of Jesus.”

Price said the colloquium will boast an exceptional panel of presenters highlighted by The Rev. Dr. Obery Hendricks, author of “The Politics of Jesus.” Hendricks has been called one of the most provocative and innovative commentators on the intersection of religion, politics and social policy in America today.

A widely sought lecturer and media spokesperson, Hendricks’ media appearances include C-SPAN, PBS, National Public Radio, Al Jazeera Television, NHK Japan Television, Air-America, Radio One, Fox News, the Bloomberg Network and others.

Dr. Sheila McKeithen – President of the Universal Foundation for Better Living (UFBL) – will open the event and a montage of clips featuring different viewpoints on the topic will be shown.

Hendricks and Dr. Dexter Callendar, Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Miami, will speak on Friday, followed by noted teacher and preacher Dr. Walter Richardson, Professor Robert Price, and Tawnicia Ferguson-Rowan, licensed teacher of the Universal Foundation for Better Living on Saturday.

Participants will have the opportunity to come together in break out groups and report back to the overall group their response to the question, “Where do we go from here?”

The Colloquium is open to the public and participants may attend in person or online via WebEx.

CEUs are offered to ministers and teachers upon request. All sessions will be made available on demand after the event.

Papers from the Colloquium will be published in the Seminary’s peer reviewed journal, New Thought Scholar. For registration and more information on CEUs or subscribing to New Thought Scholar, go to www.jctseminary.org.
