PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. (AP) _ Pembroke Pines police say the case of a woman who fatally shot her 11-year-old daughter before turning the gun on herself has been closed.
The bodies of 49-year-old Shirley Campos and 11-year-old Patricia Campos were found Saturday inside their home. The Broward Medical Examiner's Office determined the mother died from an apparent suicide and the daughter from a gunshot wound.
A police report released Monday says Edward Camps has been interviewed and is not a person of interest. He was not home at the time of the shootings, but called police when he found the bodies.
The 49-year-old told police his wife had been depressed and was taking medication for anxiety.
He also said the couple did not own guns.
Private services are planned for Wednesday.
