MIAMI – Bayside MarketPlace and the Miami Bayside Foundation will be celebrating its 30th Birthday on Sunday, April 2, from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Locales Festival, a major gathering of the Miami community celebrating accomplishments in education, art, music, food and entertainment.

Pamela Weller, Bayside’s senior general manager, called Bayside “Miami’s most visited destination and the anchor of Downtown Miami.” As a result, she said they deemed the Locales Festival as the perfect event to parallel the celebration of its 30th anniversary.

Weller said a portion of the proceeds from the festival would benefit Miami Bayside Foundation – a non-profit dedicated to advancing economic development in Miami through small business loans and a large array of scholarship programs.

Mayor Tomas Regalado and his wife Ana Cristina Regalado serve as the event’s honoree chairpersons. Regalado will make a presentation at 11:30 a.m. at the large stage area behind the Hard Rock Café.

Throughout the day, attendees can experience a wide range of activities including:

a culinary cook-off between students from the Miami Culinary Institute; a student designed fashion show by the International Fine Arts and Design School and Department Store Century 21; a simulator experience from Florida Memorial University and other exhibits from former loan recipients, sponsors and original tenants.

Patrons will also have the opportunity to meet original store and shopping center employees and enjoy amazing food, music and dance performances.

The foundation has awarded over 327 scholarships to local colleges and universities, supported scholarship programs at DA Dorsey, Lindsey Hopkins, and George T. Baker Technical Colleges along with the new Marine Service Technology Academy, and supported amazing programs like Breakthrough Miami and NFTE.

“We are giving back each and every day to the local community through the funds that we raise through our fundraising efforts along with the $357k that our company gave this past year and every year. In the past 30 years, MBF has been instrumental in creating thousands of jobs through its loan program and funding myriad scholarships to gifted students throughout the City of Miami,” Weller said.
